In 2012, with your support, we won a long costly legal battle to stay in our home at 576 Harrow Road and continue our good works for the community. The landlords were ordered by the court to carry out extensive external repairs, including replacing all the windows in the building and importantly drafting a new lease for us. They have since breached the court order.

Without a written lease, as a registered charity (Charity Reg No. 281810)  we cannot apply for much needed funding to help us continue our good works and improvements in the gym, so we are forced to go back to the courts to force the external repairs to be carried out, which they have not done and get our new lease in place.

We need your help. We need your support in raising the money, with donations, fundraising etc. We need volunteers to help us organise and assist with fundraising events.

Rallying in support of our fundraising efforts, a KO Circuit member, Ruth, has organised an amazing charity fundraising gig at All Stars gym, with the amazing artist A Guy Called Gerald, The Correspondents, Skinny Girl Diet & DJ Sugarlump Power giving their time and talents for free.

Join us for what promises to be an awesome night, buy tickets

If you can’t make it to the event you can still donate on the event page , all donations gratefully appreciated.

Golden Dyer!

All Stars couldn’t be more pleased to announce that our very own Junior Muay-Thai sensation Shenelle Dyer has been crowned Junior World Muay thai Champion in the age 9-11 category, (weight 42-45kg) after competing on March 13th in Istanbul Turkey.

Shenelle took on the world’s best and conquered all! Coach Lloyd Heaven had trained Shanelle for the tournament and accompanied her on the trip and was delighted that everyone’s hard work has paid off.

Huge thanks to all our members who contributed to raising the funds for Shanelle to get to Turkey, all of your help was worth it! So thanks for your support…

In fact since returning from Turkey Shanelle has had even more success by winning the junior super league event held by the UKMF. They have 4 events for the year and whoever collects the most points in their category at the end season is selected to fight for the England squad… so keep it up Shanelle!

Its Show Time – So get ready to celebrate

7853013468_e2d75f15fe_cAll Stars Boxing Gym is delighted to announce that our Mr Isola Akay, MBE, Founder of the club has been confirmed to carry the Flame in the Olympic Torch Relay!

Mr A will be carrying the torch on Leg: 144 – at 4.27pm on Thursday 26 July, along Notting Hill Gate, Starting at the corner of Hillgate Street and finishing at the corner of Linden Gardens.

This is your moment to shine by planning how you will line the streets to cheer him on as he goes past. Mr A started All Stars Boxing Gym in 1974 with little more than a dream to give the youth in our community somewhere positive to go. The fact that the gym is still going strong today and has produced World Champions is testament to the fact that he has done so much hard work over the years. No-one deserves to carry the torch more in our opinion.

It will be once in a lifetime chance to see the Olympic Torch closely if you come to the club on 576 Harrow Road, London Wl0 4RH between 5.00pm -7pm on 26th July…. DON’T MISS IT.

And the New…

All Stars couldn’t be more pleased to announce that we have a new champion in our midst! Kelvin ‘Remi’ Fawaz is now the ABA Elite Champion after winning his final on Friday April 13th at York Hall Bethnal Green. Kelvin won a decision over Louis Cunningham of Middlesbrough in the 67kg weight class meaning he is now the best amateur boxer in his division in the country! Kelvin is on a mission so keep an eye out for him as we hope this is the first of many titles he goes on to win…

Mr A Carrying the Flame in 2012

We are delighted and very proud to announce that All Stars legendary founder, coach and mentor, Mr Akay, will be carrying the Olympic Torch through London in the lead up to the 2012 Olympic games.

Mr Akay has been actively involved in shaping the lives of so many youngsters who have walked through All Stars door over the past 40 years or so and all of his hard work has been recognised by the Olympic committee who have confirmed him as a Torch Bearer on Thursday July 26th 2012.

Mr A has a long standing connection with the Olympics through the sport of boxing. His son Tee Jay, who is sadly no longer with us, boxed the great Evander Holyfield at the 1984 Olympics. Tee Jay then went on to be crowned British Champion and became a major success in boxing under the guidance of Mr A.

All Stars Rocks!

razorlight-mraA chart topping indie band were the star turn at a charity fundraiser in support of a boxing club that helps kids from tough backgrounds stay out of gangs.

Razorlight performed at the cash strapped All Stars Boxing Gym and Youth Club, on Wednesday 8th June 2011.

The club trains more than 300 youths a week, charging just £1.50 for a two hour session but it faces closure unless it can stump up £100,000 in rent arrears before the lease runs out at the end of June.

John Borrell, frontman for the band, became a regular at All Stars’ non-contact boxing nights in 2005 whilst living in nearby Ladbroke Grove.

He was still a regular at the Monday night sessions when he found out about the club’s financial difficulties and was very eager to offer his support.

Mr Borrell said: “These places are very important not only for the local community but for London as a whole.

“In a boxing club it does not matter who you are you must give everybody respect and that is a lesson that you can take with you in the outside world.

“I am very grateful for that and so there was no question that we would come here and help out in whatever way we could.”

razorlight-in-ringIsola Akay, who was awarded an MBE in 2000, founded the club in 1974 after a local gym turned his son away because of the colour of his skin.

He has already raised half the cash, through donations and fundraisers, and now hopes the publicity from last week’s concert will help him make the other £50,000.

He said: “I have been training Johnny for six years and in all that time I never knew he was a rock star!

“I just hope that his kind support will mean more people knowing about our club and what we are trying to do here.

“This is my life’s work, it keeps me young and as long as it is still here then I will keep coming seven days a week 52 weeks a year.”

Gym volunteer Dean Murphy said: “We would rather kids were in the gym boxing than on the streets causing trouble.

“It’s about getting them out of using knives and into using boxing gloves.

“Our gym is packed out every day so you dread to think about what all the kids would do if we ceased to exist.”
